"DFW Adoption is outstanding"
Ofsted, September 2007The aim of the day was to explore critically what is meant by ‘research impact’ and promote an exchange of ideas between academic staff, post graduate researchers and invited research partners. To work also towards implementing the School’s research strategy, research culture and future opportunities for individual and professional development.
Margaret Bell, Director of DFW Adoption, Dr Chris Jones and Professor Simon Hackett, Head of SASS facilitated a workshop as part of the SASS conference hosted by Durham University. The workshop was entitled, ‘Informing practice through research: the example of research in partnership with a local adoption agency’
We were able to draw upon and evidence the experiences and mutual benefits of a 3 year period of partnership working between DFW Adoption and Chris Jones, supported by Durham University, towards her thesis entitled ‘What makes adoptive family life work?’ The participating audience were left in no doubt about the positive impact on DFW Adoption of Dr Jones’s work and the plans for future collaborative working.
